For added stability of the cabinet when heavy slide mounted equipment is telescoped forward; file servers are typical of this equipment. The stabilisers may be pivoted back flush with the front of the cabinet when they are not required. This is an important safety feature as fixed stabilisers present a significant pedestrian traffic hazard.
